More than 50 partners attended the first digital-earth.eu conference held in Salzburg, Austria from July 4-8^th, 2011. After two days of networking, plenary and Special Interest Group meetings, the delegates benefited from the integrated Learning with GI conference, which this year was subtitled “Where does Digital Earth go in education?”.

Interesting paper presentations and discussion sessions were attended by project partners. A number of new organisations expressed an interest to join the network, including some from countries not yet involved in digital-earth.eu.

Besides conference tracks, social contacts were established and fostered in a professional environment during evening events and, of course, the field visit excursion on Friday which included information on alpine environments, socio-geographic trends in the region of Salzburg and location-based exploration using mobile geo-technology.
